All you need to know about the amazing A-Rod...

Most people either love or hate Alex Rodriguez. Some even think that he is a greedy money-lover. After you read his brief biography, you'll see that he is actually an extremely kind, generous, and talented man.

On July 27, 1975, Lourdes Rodriguez gave birth to a little baby boy in New York, NY. Little did his mother and father, Victor, know that he would go on to later become one of the most talented shortstops in the MLB today. This baby was named Alexander Emmanual Rodriguez, the youngest sibling to his brother and sister Joe and Suzy. Soon after Alex's birth, the Rodriguez family moved back to their native Dominican Republic but changed their living quarters and moved to Miami, Florida where Alex currently resides. Shortly after, Alex's father left the family when Alex was just five years old.

Most of Alex's childhood was spent watching and playing baseball. While Michael Jordan was Alex's childhood sports hero, he also greatly admired Cal Ripken Jr. In the recent 2001 All-Star Game in Seattle, Alex got the pleasure of playing alongside Mr. Ripken Jr. Alex also proved to be extremely classy when he offered Cal to play shortstop while he himself took over third base.

Alex never let his father's departure from the family affect him. Instead, he strove harder to succeed in what he loved; baseball. By the time Alex reached high school, scouts from all over were watching him. In 1993 draft, the Seattle Mariners picked Alex Rodriguez first overall while he was only seventeen years old! When he turned 18, the Mariners called him up to play in the big leagues, making him one of the youngest players to ever play in the MLB. Alex Rodriguez has been there ever since up until the beginning of the 2001 MLB season. However, while Alex was there, he tied the club record for three Grand Slams in one season and holds numerous records for shortstops. In 1996, he was among the league leaders in 11 different categories. His runs, hits, extra base hits, doubles and batting average were the best ever by a shortstop. Alex is definitely an all-around player. He was also voted Major Leauge Player of the Year by the Sporting News.

In 1997, he won his first silver slugger award and got selected to his first all-star game. In 1998, he joined the 40/40 club...making him the first infeilder and 3rd player in Major Leauge history to do so. He was also named to his 2nd All-Star game.

In 2001, Alex recorded his 1,000th career hit. He also hit homerun #200 on May 12th, 2001.

As you can well see, Alex Rodriguez is extremely talented and and deserving of our praise and respect. Alex is someone who will definitely prosper and succeed for years to come in the Major Leagues.
